Sulsulxumaat Cindy Daniels was elected to her first term as Cowichan Tribes Chief on March 7, 2024. Prior to being elected Chief, Cindy served on Cowichan Tribes Council for nine terms since 2002.
During that time, she demonstrated her commitment to the Cowichan community, and was asked to fulfill the roles of Acting Chief for several months in 2021, General Manager between April 2017 and September 2018, and Acting Chief Administrative Officer between October 2022 and September 2023.
Cindy is a collaborative leader and is guided by the teachings passed down to her by Cowichan Elders. She grew up in Koksilah village and is a residential school Survivor. In 2022, Cindy served as Indian Day School Coordinator, assisting Survivors with their Day Scholar Forms and TB Indian Hospital Forms. Cindy has dedicated her life to her community and her family.
