Jeannie Pelletier is a distinguished healthcare executive with more than 30 years of experience, including 14 years as a nurse and 16 years in management at the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB). Her robust background in nursing and health administration has enabled her to make substantial contributions to healthcare development in Eeyou Istchee, with a focus on community-based, innovative approaches.
A graduate of McGill University’s Cree Succession Program, Ms. Pelletier is trilingual in Cree, English, and French. She previously served as an elected member of the Cree Nation of Chisasibi from 2015 to 2020 and remains committed to enhancing healthcare services that address the distinct needs and values of communities throughout Eeyou Istchee.
Ms. Pelletier has occupied key leadership roles, such as Local Director and Interim Regional Proximity Director for the Chisasibi Pole, where she successfully spearheaded initiatives like the Chisasibi Nisk Pilot Project and the Whapmagoostui Retention Program. She is currently serving her second year as Chairperson of the CBHSSJB where her leadership is marked by a commitment to strategic direction, system transformation, and the delivery of culturally responsive care.
