Raffaele Oriani

Raffaele Oriani is Dean and Professor of Corporate Finance at Luiss Business School.

Throughout his academic career, Professor Oriani has held several senior leadership roles, including Associate Dean for Faculty, Head of Custom & Consulting Programmes, Director of the Master in Business Administration (MBA) at Luiss Business School, and Director of the Master of Science in Corporate Finance at Luiss University, FT ranked. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of Southampton Business School.

He holds a Ph.D. in Management from the University of Bologna and has been a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Economics of the University of California, Berkeley, as well as at the Research Department of the Bank of Italy.

Professor Oriani combines an extensive academic experience – teaching across undergraduate, graduate, custom, executive, and doctoral programmes – with a professional one. He serves in some corporate and institutional Boards and has been an Independent Member of the Board of Directors and President of the IT and Digital Committee of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, till April 2026.

His research focuses on key issues in economics, finance and management, with particular attention to corporate finance, strategic management and innovation. He has published extensively in leading international academic journals, including Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Industrial and Corporate Change, Advances in Strategic Management, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Research Policy, Scientometrics, Journal of Product Innovation Management, International Review of Financial Analysis and Strategic Organization.
