Sharmarke Dubow is a public policy and governance professional and United Nations Human Rights Fellow with experience in municipal government, climate policy, housing, and refugee inclusion. Elected to Victoria City Council in 2018, he became the first Somali-Canadian elected to city council in Canada and Victoria’s first Black city councillor in 152 years. He later advised Somalia’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change, led Somalia’s Green Climate Fund National Designated Authority, and served as National Focal Point to the UNFCCC. He holds an MPP and an MSc from University of Oxford and a Diploma in Public Relations from the University of Victoria. |
