Shawna Peddle is the Associate Vice President of Sustainability at Co-operators, a Canadian co-operative insurance and financial services provider headquartered in Guelph, Ontario. Shawna uses her expertise in program design and systems thinking to provide strategic leadership for sustainability, climate, and financial resilience embedment and reporting, helping the organization realize its vision of catalyzing a resilient and sustainable society. In previous roles, she led community impact programs and partnerships, including corporate giving, volunteerism, and the Co-operators Community Funds. Beyond Co-operators, Shawna is the former Director of Disaster Risk Reduction for the Canadian Red Cross, and the former Director of Partners for Action at the University of Waterloo. Today, Shawna continues to make an impact through strategic and collaborative partnerships related to climate adaptation and mitigation, disaster risk reduction, community resilience, financial inclusion, and social purpose.
Outside of her corporate role, Shawna sits on the Board of Directors for the Guelph Humane Society, and is a sessional lecturer and mentor for the Graduate Diploma in Social Responsibility and Sustainability program at St. Michael’s College, University of Toronto (a credential she also holds). She lives in Guelph, Ontario with her husband and twin sons.
