Susanna Haas Lyons, M.A., is a public engagement specialist who develops strategy and provides training for better conversations between the public and decision makers. She has over 25-years international leadership experience in designing, facilitating, managing and evaluating complex civic engagement efforts.
Bridging online and face-to-face methods, Susanna has worked on many large and complex stakeholder and citizen engagement projects across North America including: updating the federal US government’s definition of Long COVID; Citizens’ Assembly on electoral reform for the province of British Columbia; rebuilding post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans; a public engagement system review for the Province of Alberta, and an Indigenous reconciliation-focused community amenity renewal plan for the City of Vancouver.
Susanna is an instructor for the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2), Simon Fraser University’s Dialogue and Civic Engagement certificate program, and multiple federal Canadian government departments.
Previously, Susanna was a Senior Network Associate with the Washington DC-based non-profit organisation AmericaSpeaks, a global leader in large-scale public participation.
