Tarrin Sam is a proud member of the Songhees Nation and the Sam family, and is deeply passionate about creating opportunities that empower Indigenous communities to thrive on their own terms. She believes that lasting prosperity is built through strong relationships, community-led solutions, and investing in future generations. With a background in communications, engagement, and strategic leadership, Tarrin has spent her career bringing people together, amplifying Indigenous voices, and helping turn ideas into meaningful action. Before joining the Indigenous Prosperity Centre (IPC), she served as Communications Coordinator for Songhees Nation, where she strengthened community connections and supported initiatives that celebrated culture, built relationships, and shared stories that mattered.
Today, as Executive Director of the Indigenous Prosperity Centre, Tarrin leads the organization with a collaborative and community-first approach. She works alongside First Nations, Indigenous entrepreneurs, governments, industry, and community partners to advance Indigenous economic development through initiatives focused on entrepreneurship, procurement, workforce development, community planning, and economic reconciliation.
One of Tarrin’s greatest passions is creating spaces where Indigenous youth can see themselves reflected as future leaders, innovators, and changemakers. Whether through regional youth conferences, Blue Economy programming, or mentorship opportunities, she is committed to helping young people build confidence, discover new possibilities, and recognize the incredible value they bring to their communities.
Outside of work, Tarrin finds joy in spending time outdoors, exploring the West Coast with her two dogs, Archer and Rocky, and making memories with her fiancé, family, and friends. She believes some of the best ideas begin around a dinner table, on a walk through the forest, or in conversations where people feel genuinely heard. That same belief in connection, curiosity, and community continues to shape both her leadership and her vision for the future.
