Recognized as an Officer of the Order of Canada for his more than 50 years work in the field of community-based participatory research, Budd is currently based in the Centre for Global Studies at the University of Victoria where he holds a position as the Co-Chair of the UNESCO Chair in Community-Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education. Budd and his colleague Dr. Rajesh Tandon of PRIA, India founded the Knowledge for Change Global Consortium on Teaching Community-Based Research. The K4C Consortium has training hubs in16 countries and has trained over 10,000 young researchers and 200 CBPR mentors. Budd is also a poet.
