A Better Africa for All: Building Trust & Empowering People
Purpose
In collaboration with ESCA Ecole de Management, the Victoria Forum is organizing an exclusive Round in Casablanca, Morocco, scheduled for 17-18 February, 2025. The Casablanca Round will bring together global leaders and innovators from Africa and beyond, around the theme of “A Better Africa for All: Building Trust and Empowering People.”
The event will bring together distinguished leaders from diverse fields to address some of Africa’s most pressing challenges and opportunities. Discussions will focus on empowering youth, navigating geopolitical complexities, combating climate change, and bridging health disparities. The aim is to foster trust, unity, and collaboration while developing actionable solutions that support sustainable growth and social equity across the continent.
Trust lies at the core of this event, as it is seen as a key element for cohesive societies, effective institutions, and resilient communities. Building trust within Africa and externally is critical for sustainable growth and development. The Victoria Forum Casablanca Round will explore how trust can be leveraged to address current challenges while inspiring innovation, prosperity, and inclusive growth.
Africa, with over 60% of its population under 25 years old, holds tremendous potential for shaping a better future. The event will explore how this young and dynamic population, paired with Africa’s rich cultural heritage, can be empowered to drive positive change. By engaging key stakeholders, the discussions will create a platform for sharing perspectives and working towards a unified vision for Africa—one that prioritizes economic growth, social equity, and environmental stewardship.
Public Panel Discussion: Empowering Africa’s Youth for a Sustainable and Trustworthy Future
This panel discussion will focus on Africa’s youthful demographic as a powerful engine for change. With over 60% of the population under 25, Africa’s future depends on empowering young people with the tools to drive sustainable development, foster trust, and lead the continent towards prosperity. The discussion will explore the role of youth in reshaping Africa’s economic, social, and environmental landscape, emphasizing education, innovation, and leadership.
Sessions
Navigating Africa’s Geopolitical and Socio-Economic Complexities
This session will examine the geopolitical and socio-economic challenges that have historically shaped Africa's development trajectory. Experts will discuss the current landscape, including issues like regional conflicts, economic inequalities, and external pressures, and how African nations can navigate these complexities through collaboration, policy reform, and innovation. The goal is to identify strategies that enable stability, foster trust, and promote inclusive growth
From Tensions to Trust: Fostering Dialogue for Co-Prosperity in Africa
This session focuses on how Africa can transform internal tensions into opportunities for co-prosperity. By fostering open dialogue among nations and communities, the continent can build trust, which is essential for political stability, economic integration, and regional collaboration. Discussions will highlight the importance of African nations trusting one another to unlock shared value, enhance intra-African trade, and create a more unified, prosperous continent.
Addressing the Impact of Climate Change: Migration and Economic Realities for a Resilient Africa
This session will explore the consequences of climate change on the movement of people in Africa. Despite contributing the least to global emissions, Africa faces some of the most severe impacts in terms of environmental damage, loss of biodiversity and drought and food insecurity. The session will focus on how African countries can tackle the challenges of large scale, forced migraton. It will highlight innovative approaches that blend traditional knowledge with modern solutions to build a resilient and sustainable future.
Innovative Solutions for Africa’s Future: Bridging the Health Divide
The concluding session will focus on actionable solutions to bridging Africa’s health divide. Public health systems in Africa are under-funded, access to health care is unequal, Africa is disproportionately impacted by infectious diseases and chronic health problems in Africa do not attract sufficient research attention. Life expectancy in Africa, as a result, is 10 years below the global average. Participants will reflect on how to provide better access to health care for all to ensure a prosperous and resilient future for Africa.
