Adel Guitouni

Dr. Adel Guitouni is an award-winning Professor at the University of Victoria’s Peter B. Gustavson School of Business, bringing approximately 30 years of executive, academic, and diplomatic experience across the government, business, academia, and not-for-profit sectors.

An internationally recognized scholar, Dr. Guitouni has secured multi-million-dollar research grants and published extensively on artificial intelligence, multiple criteria decision analysis (MCDA), and regenerative global supply networks. His research pioneers decision support systems that help organizations navigate complex market volatility and resource management. Renowned for his pedagogical excellence, he brings a multi-disciplinary, place-based approach to the classroom and boasts a 100% success rate for his Ph.D. students securing successful research careers.

Before his full-time academic career, Dr. Guitouni served as a Defence Scientist for the Canadian government (1998–2012). In this role, he directed large scientific teams supporting major strategic initiatives for the Canadian Forces, the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, and the G8/G20 summits.

A distinguished figure in international diplomacy and democratic transition, Dr. Guitouni has actively supported socio-economic development in the MENA region since 2011. Notably, he served as a Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Tunisia, facilitating critical negotiations between political adversaries that contributed to the national dialogue leading to the Nobel Peace Prize. To further empower youth and emerging leaders, he partnered with Tunisian higher education institutions in 2014 to establish a non-governmental organization dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.

Dr. Guitouni’s commitment to inclusive problem-solving and community leadership is further reflected in his roles as co-founder of the Victoria Forum and a delegate to the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. He currently serves as the President of the BC Muslim Association, a 60-year-old organization. Ultimately, through his research, teaching, and leadership, Dr. Guitouni strives to equip individuals, communities, and organizations with the tools to change their world.
